On the 9th day of Christmas, Scrapdango gave to me 9 Scrappers Leaping. Well, not really, but we are giving you a tutorial for a Library Card Gift Card Holder. I was inspired to do this from the Library Card birthday card that I made for the Blog Hop. For that, I used a pre-made library card, but I wanted the option to do this if I didn't have any pre-made ones. I'm not even sure where to find those anymore. I actually made this from start to finish in about 30 minutes (maybe even less than that) never having done this before, so I know you all can do this.
Before I begin, let me tell you that the TWIST for this project is to use striped, plaid, and floral patterned papers for this. So here is how I made my library card.
First off, cut out a piece of cardstock (you can used colored, but I just used off white like an actual library card) 4-1/4" x 8-1/2"
Next, I measured up 3-3/4" from the bottom on both sides and made a mark and then made a 3/8" wide cut down from the top to that mark on each side, so that I basically had a piece of cs that was 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" on the top and 4-1/4" x 3-3/4" on the bottom. I slightly notched the bump-outs in the lower part to make them look finished.
Next, I used my scoring blade to score between the two width sections and then to score along the bump-outs.
Then I folded the lower half up.
and folded bump-outs behind and glued them down.
I rounded the corners at the top of the library card to make it look official.
And, finally I decorated and embellished to my heart's content.
There you have it. Tuck in a gift card, and it's ready to be given.
By completing this project you will earn one draw for the chance at a full kit that we will be drawing for. Add the twist for an extra draw.
We would love to see your creation linked in this thread, but be sure to link it in your official sign in thread...that's where we'll be looking!
International members welcome to play, however...a $6 shipping credit will be given. Any shipping above the $6 will be the member's responsibility.
